Anticipation
We are only three days away from the big party. People are already starting to show up. I'm having difficulty concentrating in class because I'm so excited (which is why I'm typing this from class right now). This is going to be fun.

Music
We're trying to find music to play throughout the wedding day. Kim thinks there's too much rock. I think it's just enough. We'll have to pull off another one of our compromises again.
The classical music choices are pretty cool though. At least that's what I think.

Invites
Invites are finally out and people have been telling me that they've received them! Since we are in between homes right now we decided that all RSVPs should be mailed to my parent's house. So for those of you that were wondering, we didn't move back to my old home town.
If everything falls into place we will close on our house by the time I return from my bachelorette party! I am also shooting for a Bridal Shower two weeks before the big day at my new house. So send us some good vibes as we are going through these GIANT life changes.
P.S. I'd like to give a shout out to Brandon Hahr for designing the invites! Couldn't have done it without you!

Buying a house
So I'm pretty sure we bought a house. Since it's a short sale we have to wait for all the crap that comes along with it. Because this is the BIGGEST purchase of our lives, it kind of put a new perspective on money. We have a gift registry at Crate & Barrel, but now all that stuff seems like stuff we don't really need. What we really need is a fridge, stove, dishwasher, and a washer & dryer. I don't expect to get any of that stuff as a wedding gift, but gosh darnit it would be nice. BUT what we would love is just straight up CASH MONEY. Any little bit helps, but I don't want to put "Cash Only" for our gift registry because it just seems so tacky. But it's really what we need. How can we ask for money without seeming so tacky?

Inspiration
I've been reading wedding blogs since before the idea of getting married was implanted in my head. I just like looking at beautiful designs and the way they are executed for a wedding. All these blogs that I read have featured some very gorgeous weddings, but they are all very "hipster" and "shabby-chic." That's not the look I'm trying to go for. I'm not saying that they aren't BEAUTIFUL, but I'm not going for an outdoorsy feel when I'm in a boat. Many of the color palettes are very pastel and we are NOT pastel.
I'm just venting a little bit since it's hard to find that perfect inspiration that I can try to emulate for my special day.

Crunch Time
Our wedding date is coming up FAST! Now that Steven has a little extra time we are working on getting all the details down.
Steven picked out his groomsmen gear at Friar Tux. They are going to look FLY! Since my nephew is going to be the ring bearer in two weddings within a month of each other, his parents are opting to purchase him a suit and we will just supply the bow tie. The men will be wearing ties while my ring bearer will be wearing a bow tie. CUTE!
On Friday we met with a photo booth supplier. I've been researching photo booths since before I was engaged. That is how much I wanted one. Most prices were in the same range and they all offered the same thing. We decided to go with this company because they included the screen that did a slideshow of pictures at no extra cost. I wasn't impressed by the colorful pens they offered, but I can just supply my own!
Also on Friday we met with the hotel that we book rooms with to make sure that we got the transportation. So if you are coming in from out of town you will be able to get the group rate AND get free transportation to and from our wedding venue. How cool is that? You can get super sloshy and not have to worry about driving home!!!
This morning I ordered a part of my bridesmaids gifts. I kind of have this idea in mind and my sister is helping me execute it nicely. Too bad she won't be surprised when I show them their gifts, but maybe I can squeeze in something nice for her...
I think the only thing left are favors and centerpieces. I've been really torn about what I want to do. I know I am having a wedding on a boat, but I don't want to shove that "theme" down everybody's throat. I think I'm going to talk to the florist (which I still haven't booked yet...YIKES) and maybe get some input from them.
I think that's it! I'm doin' some serious work here!!! I've been spending my weekends going through website after website just trying to get ideas and to get inspired, but it's been really tough. Lord, beer me strength!

Cake Topper
I just paid for our cake topper today and I'm totally stoked! Not going to post too much about it since I don't want to give too much away. It's a display of our family. Of course that means Atticus is going to be on it! It arrives in Septmeber!!!

My Inaugural Post
So, I finally get to write on this thing.
I'm super excited that the Apocalypse has now been moved to the date of our wedding! I can't imagine a better way to celebrate the end of the world than with our friends and family. Is it inappropriate for us to walk down the aisle to R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)?" Because, as one of our friends said, "What point would existing be once the most perfect love has been joined in matrimony?"
Some of you may have noticed that I have started adding music to some of the pages on the website. These songs have special meaning to us, and we hope you enjoy them.

Wedding on the last day on Earth!
So the rapture was slated to begin on May 21st. Also predicted is the actual end of the world - OCTOBER 21ST! So I hope everyone is ready to spend their last day on Earth with Steven and I. At least you will spend it with all our loved ones partying the night away. Hope we send you off the right way!

So we are 5 months away from our wedding. I placed our save the date cards in the mail - FINALLY! It's almost crunch time...but I'm not too worried yet. Should I be?

Save the Dates...
We finally ordered and received our "save the date" cards. I'm anxious to mail them out to everyone so everyone can finally start reading this blog! We've been slacking since we've had all that photography drama, but now we are finally on our way!

Say yes to the dress?
So I'm not a big "bling" person and I never was. So when I walked into David's Bridal back in October, I knew that a lot of the dresses were going to be no. I like clean lines and simplicity. All the dresses I tried on that day had some type of glittery, jewel on it. I'm not bashing on the jewels but it's just not me. If there are going to be jewels on my dress it's going to be because I put them there. The lady at David's Bridal was kind of slow in getting me dresses, but at the end I knew that I wanted a satin dress that wasn't super white and was more form fitting. The dress that I ended up liking was the cheapest, but it did have some minimal bling on it.
Fast forward to last Saturday. I made an appointment with Alfred Angelo about three days prior so it was a very last minute thing. I told the girl what I wanted and she ended up finding this dress that was only $279!! I put a deposit down on it so that's that!
All I need is to find my own "bling" to add to make the dress my own!

The Venue
Steven and I booked the venue a few months back. It's one of the few things we knew we needed to do early on. Like I said, we are having our ceremony/reception on the Eternity. It's the biggest boat of the fleet at Electra Cruises! I don't want to go into too much detail since I want it to somewhat be a surprise. I can tell you that it's open bar! Honestly though, that's all you really need to know anyway!
First Post
So I guess this is my inaugural post. I guess I have to introduce myself. My name is Kim and I'm getting married on October 21, 2011. My fiance's name is Steven. If you want to know more about our story, you can check out our wedding website...
Since the new year started I decided that I needed to get my wedding planning into high gear! We've booked our venue and we are going to have our ceremony/reception on the Eternity. It's a boat that launches out of Newport in the Balboa Peninsula. The other things that we have planned for the wedding so far I will post as separate posts? We'll see...I'm kind of winging it I guess...
